We're looking for people to run our sorting/packing operation this summer. Ideally, a team of 2 friends who want to work together!
Are you passionate about quality-control in food? Want a chill job with late hours? Want to spend the summer meeting people and living on a cool farm in beautiful Pemberton BC?
This job is about hanging out together for hours around a conveyor belt, working side-by-side with your eyes and your fingers, careful record-keeping, and some moderate lifting and walking. Good English language skills are also important for careful communication with me.
Everyone seems to enjoy camping at our farm. We have a separate field where people park vehicles and set up tents. It's a pretty spot, with some shops very nearby, and just 5kms from downtown Pemberton. For the sorting job, it really helps to have a vehicle, since the work hours are different from the people who are doing the picking.
We provide excellent fresh water for drinking and a cute outdoor shower. We also have a nice outhouse that is serviced regularly. There is refrigeration for your food, electricity for charging gadgets, Wifi, and lights. We also have a few farm bikes available to share. There's also great swimming nearby, and Pemberton is surrounded by unlimited outdoor adventure, climbing, hiking, biking etc. It's a great spot!
We charge $20 per week for living here, to help cover the costs of these amenities (especially the pumping-out of the toilet) And unfortunately, because we have animals here, no other pets are allowed.
In the early season, the hours are a little light, and you'll probably want to do some berry picking too, to make some more money - through the middle of the season the sorting will probably be enough for you - and for the last couple weeks it will be long hours and late nights!
We have had people working here from many countries. The people who seem to love this place the most are usually fit and adventurous 30-somethings. Lots of Canadians, but we have also had a special connection with people from Chile and Argentina (even though, I'm sorry, I still don't speak Spanish) Also, lots of rock climbers! I love to show off my secret sport crags around Pemby, and it's easy to get down to Squamish on days off.
Location: 5 kms east of downtown Pemberton, near the Pemberton Business Park
Approx hours: 12pm-8pm, 5-6 days per week, from early July until mid September.
It's a chill job in a very pleasant work environment. Give me a call, I'm happy to answer all your questions. But to get this job, you really have to commit to the full 8-10 week season!
