I have been working freelance over the past five and a half years in Vancouver, recently relocated to Squamish (after 10 years in studios) and am currently finishing up a single family home in West Vancouver. I would welcome additional contract work at this time as I continue to establish my self employed service.
Please note I am not submitting a resume or applying for a position, I am a self employed third party consultant who manages the job from all the drawing production to coordinating (sometimes hiring) consultants to submitting the application as agent of the owner. The design is always yours but the process would be run by me with regular coordination between myself and the designer/architect.
All of my work shown is that entirely of my own (part that of the design itself for the most part). They are all my CAD standards and begin from sketches in which I develop and filter out design conflicts. I work with AutoCAD and have only my hands in the files for various reasons. Upon completion of the project all files are provided.
I work remotely, independently and with my own workflow/standards/templates on building permit drawings for both outright and conditional permits, have recently done two projects on the UEL, six in the City of Vancouver and over a dozen in West Vancouver. I work directly with the city and coordinate my own meetings and take ownership of the project with a track record of obtaining building permits through my own coordination.
My service has been in that of a consultant/project design manager but have also been doing all of the drawings as well as managing the projects and consultants up until I obtain building permit for the client. I work with AutoCAD and have only my hands in the files for various reasons. I don't work with anyone else's file structure/layers/standards as it disrupts my library and workflow. Upon completion of the project all files are provided.
Although my service tends to appeal more to independent architects and designers who work alone, I have contracted out in the past to studios. Bear in mind I am not applying for a position and do not use Revit, my workflow is as outlined above. I am offering my freelance consultant service as it can benefit both parties compared to an in house, salary/permanent position.
What I would be providing you through my service is reflected in the attached project samples (sent in confidence) as well as all of the coordinating with the consultants, builder and district/municipality. I can also refer sub consultants to assemble the team for the BP requirements.
